FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Planning a wedding comes with details — and photography is an important one. Below are answers to the questions I’m asked most often. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, I’m always happy to talk through specifics.

Booking & Logistics

How do we reserve our date?

A signed contract and a 35% non-refundable retainer secure your wedding date. The remaining balance is due four weeks before the wedding.

Do you carry insurance?

Yes. I carry both liability and equipment insurance and can provide a certificate to your venue upon request.

Do you work with planners?

Absolutely. I collaborate closely with planners and creative partners to ensure the day flows smoothly and the visual details are thoughtfully preserved.

How far in advance should we book?

Most couples reserve their date 6–18 months in advance. If your date is confirmed, I recommend reaching out sooner rather than later.

The Wedding Day

How would you describe your approach?

My work is rooted in observation. I guide gently when needed and otherwise allow moments to unfold naturally. The result is imagery that feels refined, composed, and never staged.

How many weddings do you photograph each year?

I take on a limited number of weddings each year so that each couple receives my full creative focus and attention.

Do you offer engagement sessions?

Yes. Engagement sessions allow us to work together before the wedding day and establish comfort and familiarity in front of the camera.

Do you photograph elopements and micro weddings?

Yes — I photograph celebrations of all sizes throughout the Hudson Valley, New York City, and beyond.

Do you work with a second photographer?

Yes. A second photographer is included in all wedding collections to ensure comprehensive coverage of your day. For smaller celebrations, I photograph solo when appropriate.

What happens in the unlikely event you are unable to attend?

In the rare case of illness or emergency, I have a trusted network of experienced photographers who can step in. All editing and delivery would still be handled by me to ensure consistency.

Do you help with timeline and family photo planning?

Yes. I collaborate with you (and your planner, if applicable) to design a timeline that allows for meaningful moments and thoughtful coverage. I also help organize family portraits in advance so they are efficient and seamless.

Do you photograph LGBTQ+ weddings?

Yes — wholeheartedly.

As a gay photographer, this work is personal to me. I have photographed weddings for couples of all genders and identities for over fifteen years, and creating a space where people feel comfortable and fully themselves is foundational to how I work.

What happens if it rains?

Weather is simply part of the story. I come prepared for changing conditions and have photographed weddings in all types of light. Some of the most memorable images are made in unexpected weather.

Galleries & Delivery

When will we receive our images?

Your full gallery is delivered within 35 business days. Depending on your collection, some galleries are delivered in as little as three weeks.

How many images will we receive?

Each wedding receives a thoughtfully edited collection of several hundred images that together tell the complete story of the day. There is no fixed number, as every celebration unfolds differently.

How would you describe your editing style?

My work balances natural color with an editorial sensibility. The editing is consistent and restrained, designed to feel timeless. Black and white imagery is used intentionally when it strengthens the emotional impact of a moment.

Do you retouch images?

All delivered images are carefully edited for color, tone, and consistency. Light retouching is included when appropriate. Extensive retouching can be requested as needed for an additional fee.

How are images delivered?

Images are delivered through a private, high-resolution online gallery for downloading and printing.

Can we share the images?

Yes. You receive full personal usage rights to download, print, and share your images.

How are our images protected?

Images are backed up immediately after your wedding and stored securely in multiple locations throughout the editing process. Your online gallery remains active for one year, with renewal options available.

Where can we print our images?

Your gallery includes access to a professional print lab, though you are welcome to print wherever you choose.

Do you provide RAW files?

RAW files are not included in standard collections. Fully edited, high-resolution images are delivered as part of your collection, as editing is an integral part of the creative process.

In rare circumstances, RAW files may be licensed for an additional fee.

Albums & Film

Do you offer wedding albums?

Yes. I design handcrafted heirloom albums made in the United States using archival materials and traditional binding methods. Each album is custom-designed and built to endure for generations.

Do you photograph film?

Weddings are photographed primarily in digital format. As an optional add-on, I sometimes bring vintage point-and-shoot film cameras to capture a handful of frames with a nostalgic, candid feel.

Travel & Additional Coverage

What does travel cost?

Travel within approximately 75 minutes of Rhinebeck is included. Beyond that, travel is quoted individually.

Do you offer videography?

I specialize exclusively in still photography, but I’m happy to recommend videographers whose work aligns with my approach.

If you have additional questions, I’m always happy to talk through them. The goal is for you to feel confident and fully informed before your wedding day.
